A second edition, revised and augmented. Rebound in red cloth with gilt title. A fascinating travel guide to Southern Germany and Austria, including the Eastern Alps. With 18 maps and 20 engraved plates. Collated complete. Two of the maps are on different pages than listed in the contents section: the map of Salzkammergut is located between pages 164-65 and the map of Upper Engadine and Bernina is located between pages 254-55. Ink signature from the previous owner, one 'E. C. Dermer', to the half title page. Pencil and ink annotations throughout from the previous owner's travels.

Condition

Rebound in red cloth with gilt title. Externally wear to the extremities and spine. Handling marks to the boards. Hinges starting but firm. Closed tear to the front paste-down. The free endpapers are loosening but still in place. Internally, firmly bound. Age toning to the edges and spotting throughout. Previous owners pencil and ink annotations throughout. The occasional closed tear and mark to the pages.
