The first and only edition of this work. Jisc notes this the second printing with introduction to 'Mary McGillup' on pp. 153-5 removed and replaced with a single title page, and contents page reprinted with the words "with an introduction by G.A.S-LA" removed. A scrace work. 

Containing tales by Bret Harte, American author of short stories and poet, remembered for his feature of romantic figures from the California Gold Rush.

Condition

Rebound in half calf binding over marbled boards, gilt to top edge. Externally smart with shelf wear, rubbed to spine, joints, and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
