Also including a preliminary view of the French Revolution. 

Written by well-known Scottish novelist, playwright, and historian, Sir Walter Scott. 

Including an engraved frontispiece, vignette title page, and a further nine engraved plates bound in that are not typically included in this work. 

Containing an ink signature of a previous owner to one of the front free-endpapers.

Condition

Rebound in full cloth. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing to the joints and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Cloth is split slightly to the joints and bottom right corner of the front board. Internally, front hinge strained to the title page. Rear hinge slightly tender. Spotting to the fore-edge and first and last few pages, though remaining pages are generally bright and clean.
