What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding

A charming guide, detailing knowledge on all aspects of daily and domestic life, including cooking, cleaning and general housekeeping. Edited by Robert Kemp Philp (1819-1882), the man behind 'Enquire Within upon Everything' and various other how-to guides, which are generally described as being equivalent to concise encyclopedias for domesticity, covering many aspects of advice for the home.

This copy is one quarter morocco bound, with a gilded emblem on the front cover demonstrating the four corners of home life - the Garden, the Field, the Study and the Kitchen. It contains excellent advertisements to the pastedowns for London-based companies for dye, flour, chlorodyne, candles, condensed milk and cocoa respectively. It also features an owner's inscription dated 1871.

Condition

Externally generally smart, with wear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally firmly bound with pages clean and bright.
