What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding

The first edition. Scarce. With a frontispiece of Bruin's Home as well as a title page vignette depicting Bull Moose Lake. As the work has been rebound, it does not contain the original publisher's advertisements to the rear of the work. Parker Gillmore, often known by his pen name 'Ubique' was an English soldier, hunter and author, renowned for his travel works published between 1869 and 1896. This particular work is a fascinating account of hunting and fishing across Montana, predating the discovery of the gold rush for which the state is often remembered. The work is also noted for Gillmore's discussion regarding the Native American people of the area. A scarce example of this work regarding hunting, from a prolific author of travel and hunting works.
