Showcasing the extremely successful career of George Cruikshank, famous British illustrator of the nineteenth century. He is known particularly for his work with Charles Dickens and was hailed as the 'modern Hogarth' by his contemporaries. A new edition of this work.  

Illustrated with twelve steel engraved plates and over one hundred vignette wood engravings by Cruikshank himself. Collated, complete. 



Condition

Rebound in full straight up grain morocco with decorative gilt to boards and extremities, four raised bands, gilt tooling to spine, gilt titles to morocco spine label. Renewed marbled endpapers, gilt to edges. Externally A trifle rubbed with cracking to front joint, rear joint starting, rubbing to extremities of boards, boards lightly marked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean.
