A gallery in book-form, representing the majority of oil painters of England during the first half of the nineteenth century, with contributions and commentary on artists such as John Constable, Richard Redgrave, and John Frederick Herring. Written by Francis Turner Palgrave, a British critic, anthologist and poet. With images printed by the Leighton Brothers. Bound by Stedman, Godalming.

Condition

Bound in full morocco with gilt. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities and light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with scattered spotting and age toning to the extremities. Bound by Stedman, Godalming.
