First Edition.

A comprehensive guide to English ancestral histories, including those of the Countess of Salisbury, as well as others such as the Wallington, Calverley, and Hungerford families.

With an illustrated frontispiece depicting Oakham Castle Hall.

Written by John Timbs, an English author and antiquary. Some of his work was published under the pseudonym of Horace Welby.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Cloth is bright. A few marks to rear board and to the spine. Some light discoloured. Some light bumping to extremities. Some bumping on head and tail of spine, resulting in a little loss to the tail of the spine. Hinges are starting but remain firm. A couple of marks to front pastedown. Bookseller labels on pastedowns. Blind stamp on front endpaper. Prior owners' ink inscriptions on verso of front endpaper, as well as half title page. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with very minimal age toning to margins. Pages are working loose from pages 291 to 302.
