Description

First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

The first edition of this address on the construction of hospitals in Great Britain, covering the general principles which should be observed, including the sites chosen, desired materials, drainage, proportion, and more. This address was given to the British Medical Association at Leeds on July 29, 1869, and this work was printed by permission of the Council of the British Medical Association.

Also including a compilation of the discussion that occurred following the address, including contributions by Sir James Simpson, Dr Hughes Bennett, Dr MacLeod, and more.

Edited and compiled by Douglas Galton, a former Captain of the Royal Engineers and Honorary Member of the British Medical Association.

A scarce work.

This copy was previously held at the St. Richard's College Priests Library at Hadzor, with the library's stamp to the title page.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with some shelf wear and fading to the spine and extremities. Bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Some light residue to the front pastedown, evidence of the amateur removal of a sticker. Library stamp to the title page. Internally, binding is slightly tender. A few spots and handling marks to the pages, which are otherwise generally clean.
