Containing biographies of Theseus, Romulus, Lysander, Brutus, Crassus, Cato the Elder, Aristides, Philopoemen, Coriolanus, Mark Antony, Artaxerxes, and more. Plutarch was a Greek biographer and essayist, who is best known for this work, and for his work of essays and speeches 'Moralia'. He was interested in the influence of good and bad character traits on the lives and destinies of men. Illustrated throughout. Edited by Alphonse Feillet. Translated by E. Talbot. Illustrated by P. In a quarter morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. Some light marks to the boards and spine. Very small amount of rubbing to the spine. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with only a couple of spots.
