A verbatim reprint of the original edition. Originally published in forty monthly parts commencing 1820. With a preface by John Timbs. Dated from the University of Cambridge Libraries. Volumes begin 'Anecdotes of Imagination' and 'Anecdotes of Humanity'. Written by Reuben and Sholto Percy, pseudonyms for Thomas Byerley, an English journalist and Joseph Clinton Robertson, a Scottish patent agent, writer and periodical editor. Robertson was a political radical prominent in the early days of the working-class press and the Mechanics Institutes movement.
Condition
In the original green half calf. Marbled edges, end-pages and boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. The odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with light spotting and age toning to the first and last few pages.
