Illustrated, Leather Binding
In a binding by Auguste Fontane, with the stamp to the front pastedown. To the front board there is the crest of the Earl of Stanley. This crest is that of the `7th Earl of Derby, Edward Stanley. He was a British soldier, Conservative politician and race horse owner. Bookseller stamp to the recto of front endpaper, A Bertrand. A beautifully illustrated copy of this work, with eighteen engravings by V Foulquier. Jean Antoine Valentin Foulquier With a frontispiece, vignette title page and a further sixteen vignette headers.
Condition
In a half morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the joints and raised bands. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright. Scattered spotting to pages.
