'Leaves of Grass' is a poetry collection by Walt Whitman, an American poet who spent most of his writing live writing and rewriting this work.
The poems in the volume are loosely connected, representing Whitman's philosophy of life and humanity, and discussing delight in sensual pleasures, despite the displays of which were considered immoral at the time of the original publication of this work.
Photograph of Walt Whitman adhered to the verso of the front free endpaper, acting as a frontispiece, taken from a newspaper clipping.
Head of the title page has been excised, repaired by a prior owner, appearing to remove an ink inscription.
