Colour Plates, Illustrated, Leather Binding

In the original French. This work is an abridged version of Georges-Louis Buffon's 'Histoire Naturelle', for children. The work looks at the natural history of quadrupeds, birds, amphibians, and insects. Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece and seven coloured plates. The work isn't attributed to any author in this edition, however Copac states that the author is Pierre Blanchard. Georges-Louis Leclerc, the Comte de Buffon, was a French naturalist and cosmologist, who's work on nature was very influential. This work was his most famous, and it was originally published in thirty-six volumes. Collated, complete.

Condition

In a quarter crushed morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. A little rubbing to the spine. Minor marks to the boards. Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'Donald Mac Gillavry'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd scattered spot.
