Early edition of Idylls of the King by Alfred Tennyson in full calf bindings. 

First published between 1859 and 1885, this work is a cycle of twelve narrative poems which attempt to retell the legend of King Arthur.

This work has often been read as an allegory of societal conflicts during the Victorian era in England.

Prior owner's book plates to the pastedowns and prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpapers.

With decorative gilt to the front board and spine.

Condition

In full calf binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Prior owner's book plates to the pastedowns and prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot.
