Illustrated with a frontispiece, fifteen plates, and further vignettes. Collated, complete.
An informative work detailing the charters conferred upon Swansea, issued to establish and govern the rights, privileges, and administrative framework of Swansea as a borough within the lordship of Gower, part of the region of Glamorgan in Wales.
The text is printed on the rectos only, with versos and twenty-four pages to the rear left blank 'for manuscript notes'.
Former owner's inscription, dated 1888, to a front blank.
A fascinating and very scarce historical work.
Condition
In a full morocco signed binding, with gilt detailing. Fading to back strip. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail, raised bands, and joints. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Inscription to a front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, but with instances of significant spotting to plates.
