A volume dedicated to the study of British butterflies and moths, by the leading Victorian entomologist Henry Tibbats Stainton. 

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, fifteen colour plates, and in-text engravings. Collated, all plates are present.

Fourteen pages of publisher's adverts to the rear, lacking page 1/2 of the adverts.

From the library of George E. Lodge, with his ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Lodge was an illustrator of birds, and an authority on falconry.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Fading to the spine and extremities. Light marks to the cloth. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots.
