Appleton & Company of New York. The firm's series of guides to railway travel in the United States began in the 1840s. Soon after, it issued additional series of handbooks for tourists in the United States, Europe, Canada and Latin America. This travel guide covers the main cities, towns, and places of interest in the United States and the British provinces, with travel routes and hotel suggestions. Includes a calendar for 1867-1868 and 12 pages for 'The Traveller's Memorandum'. 17 pages of advertisements to the front and 51 pages of advertisements to the rear.
