Edited by librarian of the Louvre, and member of the statistical society of universal grammar, Aine Bescherelle as a "Monument to the glory of the French language and literature." Volume one lists words A to F, with volume two featuring words G to Z. Published by the prolific French publishing house Garnier Freres. Complete in two volumes.

Condition

In morocco bindings with gilt lettering to the spines. Externally, a trifle rubbed with worn extremities. Internally, volume two firmly bound and volume one generally firmly bound with some leaves working loose. Generally bright pages, yet with age toned endpapers. Some offsetting throughout from illuminated capitals. Closed tears to half title page of volume one. Light spotting to and tide marks to last pages three pages of the index to volume two.
