This work contains stories from the infamous collection of Middle Eastern folktales, 'Arabian Nights'. The book begins by establishing the main frame of the overarching work, Sharhryar, a king that rules both India and China.
Stories included that are most associated with this collection is 'Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp' and 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves' under a slightly alternative title here.
With plates of illustrations to the work, including a frontispiece and six plates.
Condition
In the original cloth binding with decorative gilt. Externally, very smart. With rubbing and bumping to the extremities. A couple light marks to the boards. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound, with the front free endpapers at risk of detaching with further handling. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional spot, heaviest to the first and last few leaves.
