Early edition of Scottish Songs and Ballads collected and edited by Joseph Ritson in the original publisher's cloth binding. 

Includes a monochrome plate as the frontispiece with a tissue guard of a portrait of Charles Edward Stuart. 

Categorised into 'Love Songs', 'Comic Songs', 'Historical, Political and Marital Songs' and 'Romantic and Legendary Songs, or Ballads'.

A new and revised edition. Joseph Ritson was a eighteenth century English antiquary. He is best known for his compilation of the Robin Hood legend. 


Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some light marking to the front board. The hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Tissue guard to the frontispiece is present and intact.
