Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
This work was first published in 1836 during the Gothic Revival in England, and was partly responsible for the movement's spread, used by many young architects as a springboard of sorts. It is an illustrated glossary, containing all of the terminology encountered in Grecian, Roman, Italian and Gothic architecture.
John Henry Parker (1806-1884) was an English archaeologist and author on many works relating to architecture.
Profusely illustrated with vignettes throughout, as well as a folding frontispiece.
With a gilt stamp to the front board and decorative gilded spine.
Condition
In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, minor general wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally generally firmly bound, front hinge is exposed but firm, pages are bright and clean.
