What Our Customers Say...
Description
Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce
The very scarce fifth printing of Thoreau's transcendentalist memoir, first published in 1854.
Only five-hundred copies of this fifth printing were produced.
Borst A2.1.e. With twenty-four pages of advertisements to the rear, and the publisher's catalogue dated September, 1865.
This is a wonderful copy of Henry David Thoreau's nature memoir, detailing Thoreau's time living in a cabin near Walden Pond, on woodland owned by his friend Ralph Waldo Emerson. In many ways, Thoreau's work reflected the core beliefs of the Transcendentalism philosophical movement, which believed in the inherent goodness of both people and nature.
