Illustrated, with an engraved frontispiece and engraved title page to every volume. In addition to this there are numerous in-text illustrations. Title pages are red and black. The introduction states 'This edition of the Waverley Novels contains, with a few exceptions, all the woodcuts that appeared in the Abbotsford Edition, besides the steel plates belonging to the original edition in forty-eight volumes. Condition

In uniform half morocco bindings with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the raised bands and to the extremities. Minor shelf wear to the head and tail of joints. Small loss to the spine of volume 47. Minor rubbing to the boards. Internally, the majority of volumes are firmly bound. Volume 36 is slightly strained in places. Pages are very bright. Scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Otherwise, just the odd spot.
