The second edition of this very scarce illustrated collection of fairy tales, edited by Victorian poet Henry Cholmondeley Pennell.
First published the year prior to this edition, the work contains a number of charming tales, including 'Little Spiderface', 'The Legend of the Little Flower', and 'The Blue Fish'.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and five illustrated plates from illustrator M. Ellen Edwards.
With sixteen illustrated pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.
A charming and scarce mid nineteenth century volume of fairy tales.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with gilt detailing. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with tide marks and damp staining to back strip and rear board. Hinges strained, with boards holding firm. Internally, binding lightly strained to centre of text block. Pages generally clean, with the odd spot and light handling mark throughout. Publisher's catalogue working loose.
