What Our Customers Say...
Description
Leather Binding, Very Scarce
A very scarce report carried by the Education Commission of Scotland, with a series of statistics collected under instructions from Her Majesty's Commissioners.
Bound in full calf, with stamped gilt 'For Vice-President's Room' to the front board.
The statistics list the natures of the schools' buildings, the population of students, as well as other general remarks.
The need for this information would have derived from the state of education at the time in Scotland, which was still facing problems of quality and the general number of children that were receiving insufficient environments of learning.
This report, alongside the Argyll Commission that was implemented the year after in 1866, ultimately led to support for widespread reform.
