First edition. Illustrated throughout with coloured frontispiece, eight plates and two fold-out plates. Collated complete. The history and architecture of the Dover Castle from primitive times, Anglo-Saxon and Norman times, to early English times and later times. Written by Reverend John Puckle, an English priest and historian. Eight pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities, particularly the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the edges and endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to front endpaper.
