What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Rebound

Two volumes. First edtion. Highly illustrated throughout with in-text diagrams and sketches. A collection of trivia for each day, listed in chronological order, giving a short list of saints connected to the day and famous persons being born on that day and dying on that day. Individuals are then selected from these lists for more detailed articles. It is well-indexed adding much to its value as a reference tool. Written and edited by Robert Chambers, a Scottish publisher, geologist, evolutionary thinker, author and journal editor who, like his elder brother and business partner William Chambers, was highly influential in mid-19th-century scientific and political circles.

Condition

Original cloth binding has been rebacked retaining the boards. Externally, very smart with only light shelf wear and bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd handling mark. Contemporary inscription to title page.
