Written and illustrated by William Stephen Coleman (1829-1904), an English illustrator known for his natural works, including 'Our Woodlands, Heaths and Hedges', as well as illustrations for 'British Birds' Eggs and Nests', 'British Ferns' and 'Common Objects of the Country'.

A new edition of this successful work.

With blind-stamped butterflies to the boards and a gilt spine.

Illustrated by the author with sixteen plates, with the majority in colour.

A marvellous work of lepidopterology.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, with just slight wear to the extremities and spine. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just the odd instance of spotting.
