Featuring a series of essays by Edward S Eyland, Francis Lightbody, and Robert Scott Burn, who was also the General Editor. Robert Scott Burn, was born in the Scottish borders in 1825. An engineer as well as an author, he wrote prolifically on subjects of construction, engineering, and technical drawing. A large volume, this work offers a fascinating insight into the styles of design and architectural movements of the 19th century. With 48 plates to the rear of the volume. Dated using COPAC. Bound by R Hartley, with binders stamp to the front pastedown. Collation unavailable.

Condition

In a half leather binding, with cloth covered boards. Externally smart. Rubbing to the head and tail of the spine, and also to the joints and to the extremities, resulting in a small amount of loss to the leather. Rubbing to the front and rear boards, with loss to the cloth. Agetoning to the topedge, foredge and bottomedge. Offsetting to the front and rear endpapers and pastedowns. Bookbinders label to the front pastedown. Cockling to the rear endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are agetoned throughout. Spotting throughout, heavier to several plates to the rear of the volume. The odd handling mark throughout. Tear to the central joint of Plate IX, towards to the tail.
