Edited by Samuel Orchart Beeton (1831-1877), an English editor, publisher and the husband of Isabella Beeton. He founded the first boys' magazine, 'Boys Own Magazine', and published numerous self-help works, including on geography, needlework, domestic animals and natural history.

Condition

In a contemporary half calf binding with gilt spine. Externally generally smart; extremities are a little rubbed, as is the head of the spine, which is starting slightly to the front hinge. Boards are a little worn. Gift inscription to the front blank. Internally, firmly bound, bar a touch of strain to the hinges. Pages are bright and clean.
