Scarce work. Latin language. The Satyricon is an example of Menippean satire, which is different from the formal verse satire of Juvenal or Horace, containing a mixture of prose and verse. Written by Franz Bucheler, a German classical scholar and student of Friedrich Ritschl. His research spanned the entirety of Greco-Roman antiquity, from poetry and sciences to aspects of everyday life.
Condition
In the original half calf with marbled boards, pastedowns and endpapers. Externally, sound with rubbing to the extremities and light chipping to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound pages are bright and clean throughout.
