1862 Memories of New Zealand Life
What Our Customers Say...
Leather Binding, Signed
An account of Edwin Hodder's time in New Zealand, following his arrival on the John Masterman. With ink inscription signed by the author to the front free-endpaper, dated 1862. With accounts of his encounters with the Maori people, and the first Taranaki War. The First Taranaki War was an armed conflict over land ownership and sovereignty that took place between Maori and the New Zealand Government in the Taranaki district of New Zealand's North Island from March 1860 to March 1861.
In a green calf binding with gilt detailing. Externally rubbed, with marks to the boards and some loss to the backstrip. Front joint has failed, and board is detached. Rear joint is cracked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, but with some slight marginal browning and just the odd spot (heavier foxing to endpapers). Overall: GOOD ONLY with a very good interior.
