The two volume first edition of William Rowlestone Henry Jessop's account of an expedition through Australia, in full calf signed bindings by Zaehensdorf.

With volume I concerned with Flindersland, and volume II with Sturtland, Jessop records in detail an early expedition from famous Australian explorer Ernest Giles and his companion, Mr Mole, from Adelaide to the north in search of new pastoral land.

Giles led five major expeditions to parts of South Australia and Western Australia.

With a contemporary inscription, dated 1865, to a front blank of volume I, and library bookplates to front pastedowns. Further library markings to verso of front free endpapers and verso of title pages. No further library markings.

Condition

In full calf signed bindings. Rebacked, with boards restored and back strips laid down. Externally, excellent. Bookplates to front pastedowns. Library markings to verso of front free endpapers and verso of title pages. Contemporary inscription to a front blank of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
