This text was the first book written in Arabic on the topic, and also contains additional information surrounding magic and astrology. This work is widely referred to as a source about Iraq in the 10th century, with insight to religion, philosophy, astrology and folklore, among other topics.
This essay presents the author's thoughts on the age and antiquity of this manuscript, with an additional 'Inaugural Lecture on the Position of the Shemitic Nations in the History of Civilization'.
Written by French scholar Joseph Ernest Renan, who was known for his writings on the Semitic languages and civilisations.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's cloth. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the extremities and a little rubbing to cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a touch age toned, but bright and clean.
