Thomas de Quincey was an English essayist, best known for his Confessions of an Opium-Eater. Along with his opium addicted, debt was one of De Quincey's primary constraints, and he pursued journalism as a way to pay his bills. He contributed to many magazines which including his reminiscences of the Lake Poets, later regarded as some of his most important works.
