Autobiographical sketches, 1790-1803. Ex Libris Louis Stomeyer Little, a 19th century surgeon who worked in China for many years and was a pioneer of Cholera treatment. Thomas de Quincey was an English essayist, best known for his Confessions of an Opium-Eater. Along with his opium addicted, debt was one of De Quincey's primary constraints, and he pursued journalism as a way to pay his bills. He contributed to many magazines which including his reminiscences of the Lake Poets, later regarded as some of his most important works.
Condition
In full calf bindings with gilt detailing to spines by Hatchard and Co. Externally, very smart with some rubbing. Personal Ex Libris plate to front pastedown of each volume. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with the occasional scattered spot.
