Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
A very scarce work. This collection of Christian poetry was written intended as a guide to the youth who feel the need of a counsellor, the author wishing to offer advice to those who may be lacking it. The poems discuss religion, knowledge, work, the inner man, self-reliance, friendships, business, home, influence, and more. Written by Samuel William Partridge. Partridge was a printer who joined a Mr Daniel Oakley to form 'Partridge and Oakley', before the partnership dissolved and he started his own printing company. He was best known for this work, though he also wrote 'An Idea of a Christian', 'Our English Months', 'Voices from the Garden', and more. With two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Some fading to the spine. Small crack to the joints. A little loss to the head and tail of the spine. Marks to the boards, with light tidemarks to the bottom edges of the boards, heavier to the rear board. Hinges are starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the occasional mark.
