Chevreul first published this work in 1839. His theories of colour provided a scientific basis for Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist painting. Translated into English by John Spanton. 

A very bright copy of this important work.

Condition

In a half calf binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the joints and to the head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Light tidemark to the top outer corner of the plates. Occasional light spots to pages.
