The seventh volume of 'The Building News and Architectural Review', comprising of January to June 1861.

'The Building News' was founded in 1854, running until 1926 when it was merged with 'The Architect', forming 'The Architect and Building News'. An important periodical, it offers an interesting insight into the developments in architecture during the year, with in-depth articles on various prominent buildings being built or proposed.

Illustrated with twenty-eight plates, and many in-text engravings.

Including plans of Wexham Lodge, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clapham, the London Bridge Railway Terminus Hotel, St. Cuthbert's in Albrighton, and more. 

Also including articles on the arrangement of farm houses and cottages for agricultural labors, the Sheffield workhouse, the Soane Museum, Bloomsbury Square, and more.

With adverts throughout.

Condition

Rebound in a modern cloth binding. Externally, smart, with just a few minor marks to the boards and spine. Bookseller's label to the rear paste down. Tide mark to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some odd spots.Closed tear to page 331.
