What Our Customers Say...

Description

Volume II only; lacking volumes I and III.

First published as newspaper articles in the Morning Chronicle, this work was an important record of the workers of London's streets. Often using material taken from interviews, it was also statistically important.

Written by Henry Mayhew (1812-1887), a journalist and social reformer. As well as co-founding Punch, Mayhew published numerous important articles surveying the city's poor; these were compiled into this work.

A reprint, with the first edition appearing in 1851.

Undated; dated from copies on Jisc.

With an illustrated frontispiece of the author.

Condition

In a modern full cloth binding. Externally lovely. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age-toned, with just the odd spot.
