The scarce first edition. 

In the original publisher's blind stamped cloth. 

Illustrated by the author with a colour frontispiece, monochrome vignettes and seven colour plates. Collated complete. 

This work was written and illustrated by William Stephen Coleman and provides a description of plants, trees, shrubs and wild fruits. Coleman was known for his illustrations of nature, including his illustrations for 'British Ferns'.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally very smart with slight fading to the spine, bumping to the extremities, slight rubbing to the joints and rear and the odd minor mark to the boards. Bookseller's blind stamp to the front free endpaper and binder's label to the rear with the odd minor mark and an old ink inscription dated 1919 to the rear free endpaper. Internally the odd page starting and cords showing, otherwise generally firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean with the odd spot.
