John Stuart Mill's important philosophical work on the concept and construction of liberty and utilitarianism, in which Mill emphasises the importance of individuality.

This was an incredibly influential work when first published, remaining in print since 1859, and still forming the basis of much political thought.

John Stuart Mill was a philosopher, political economist, and Member of Parliament. He's considered to be the most influential English philosopher of the nineteenth century.

Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down, and to the title page.

Condition

In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, rubbed, mostly to the leather. Some light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities and to the head of the spine, with a small crack to the head of the joints. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots. Prior owner's ink inscription to the title page. The occasional pencil note to the text.
