Maria Rundell's immensely popular domestic cookery book, first published in 1805.
This was a very popular work, aimed towards middle class housewives, the work sold half a million copies within Rundell's lifetime.
'Domestic Cookery' contains possibly the first recipe for tomato sauce, and the first print recipe for Scotch eggs.
Illustrated with many in-text engravings.

Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing to the boards and spine. Light marks to the boards, with a heavier red mark to the rear board. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with a small closed tear to the head of the rear joint. A little loss of paper to the joints and extremities. Light spots to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with only the very occasional spot. A couple of small pencil marks to the margins.
