What Our Customers Say...
Description
Fine Binding, Prize Binding
This is the ninth edition of the biography of John Mackintosh (1822-1851), penned by his brother-in-law, Scottish clergyman Norman Macleod (1812-1872). Mackintosh was a talented and diligent student, acting as dux of Edinburgh Academy in 1837 before studying Latin and Greek at university in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Cambridge. He then studied to become a minister, travelling around Geneva, Italy and Rome before rupturing a blood vessel in his lung and passing away suddenly, dashing his dreams of becoming a minister. Macleod's biography of him, however, immortalises him whilst exploring religion, society and travelling in mid 19th century Britain.
