A smart study of Biblical scripture by English Baptist minister and Biblical scholar Joseph Angus, who first published this work in 1854. As a theologian, Angus was conservative; in a debate of 1870 he upheld the doctrine of eternal torment.

With four pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.

With a bookplate, dated 1878, to the front pastedown.

In a signed binding by Lewis & Sons, with their label to the rear free endpaper.

Condition

In a full straight grain morocco binding, with gilt detailing to spine. Rubbing to spine head and tail, and joints. Front joint starting, with board somewhat tender. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting to title page, with pages otherwise clean and bright.
