Complete in two volumes.

Rebound in a quarter calf binding with marbled paper to the boards, bound by James Ashton.

An extensive history of the ancient pottery of the Greeks, Etruscans, Romans, Egyptians, and Assyrians.

This is a well researched studious study by Samuel Birch, an Egyptologist and antiquary.

Volume I illustrated with a colour frontispiece, five colour plates, and in-text monochrome illustrations. Collated, complete.

Volume II illustrated with a colour frontispiece, five colour plates, and in-text monochrome illustrations. Collated, complete.

Institutional stamp to the frontispieces, title pages, and to a few pages throughout both volumes.

Condition

Rebound in a quarter calf binding with marbled paper to the boards, bound by James Ashton with new endpapers. Externally, smart. Light marks and a little discolouration to the leather. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots. The occasional institutional stamps to various pages, including the frontispieces and title pages. A little edgewear to a few pages, mostly to the first and last few.
