Written by Delabere Pritchett Blaine, an English veterinary surgeon who contributed greatly to Ree's Cyclopaedia, as well as writing this work on rural sports and four other writings on animal anatomy.
This encyclopaedia is comprised of a complete account of rural sports including hunting, shooting, fishing, racing and many others. Blaine describes this work as historical, practical and descriptive.
With over six hundred engravings on wood by R. Branston, from drawings by a number of other artists, including Leech, Alken, T. Landseer and others.

Condition
Rebound in a quarter morocco binding with green cloth to boards. Externally, sound with slight rubbing, causing small tears to the joints. Bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. Fraying and slight loss to leather at the head and tail of the spine, with backstrip starting to lift. A touch of fading to the spine. Slight discolouration to boards, with a little damp staining. Bookbinder's label to the rear paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
