An anonymous account of the Siege of Lucknow during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the prolonged defence of the British Residency within the city from rebel sepoys, being Indian soldiers in the British East India Company's Army. This work includes entries from 15th May to 28th December, 1857, with reference to insurrection and murders in Delhi, precautions, casualties, the arrival of relief, the discovery of mines, Christmas, and much more. Written by a Mrs Georgina Harris. Publisher's catalogue to the rear. Bound by Edmonds & Remnants, London.

Condition

In the original brown cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine. The cloth to the rear joint starting and head of the spine pulled slightly. Front hinge strained but still firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. Bound by Edmonds & Remnants, London.
