A complete three volume set of The Plays of Shakespeare, edited by Howard Staunton and illustrated by John Gilbert.
The first volume (1858) contains the plays The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Love's Labour's Lost, and The Comedy of Errors and ends with Much Ado About Nothing.
Volume two (1865) contains All's Well That Ends Well, King Henry the Fifth, As You Like It and ends with Cymbeline.
Volume three (1860) contains The Tempest, King Lear, and Coriolanus and ends with some of Shakespeare's poems and a general index.
With many in-text illustrations and with a frontispiece to volume one.
Collated, complete.
Condition
In half morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally, sound though with rubbing to the spines and extremities and some marks to the boards. Front hinge is starting to volume i but remains firm. Rear hinge starting to volume iii but remains firm. Internally, all are generally firmly bound with pages 199-202 loose in volume iii.
