Description
Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
A charming collection of hand-coloured lithographs by prolific Victorian illustrator Charles Henry Bennett, contributor to the Punch magazine.
Illustrated with a title page, frontispiece, and twenty-one further hand coloured lithographs. Collated, lacking two plates.
Undated; dated 1857 via the British Library.
This Bogue edition precedes the later Kent edition.
An amusing series of lithographs which play with the shadow of the characters illustrated.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial paper covered boards. Lacking back strip. Boards age toned, with rubbing to perimeters. Internally, disbound, as is common with this work. Significant spotting and light handling marks throughout.
